Our Environment
At In Our Garden, the environment is designed to feel calm, welcoming, and full of opportunities for children to play, explore, create, and connect.
We believe children learn best when they feel comfortable, curious, and free to engage with the world around them. Every space within the centre is designed to encourage exploration, creativity, connection, and play.
Rather than overly structured spaces, the environment feels natural, relaxed, and lived-in, giving children room to learn through real experiences each day.
Our Outdoor Play
Outdoor play is an important part of daily life at In Our Garden.
Children are encouraged to move, climb, run, build, explore, and engage with the natural environment in ways that help children build confidence, coordination, resilience, and independence.
Outdoor experiences provide opportunities for children to test boundaries, solve problems, take healthy risks, and work together through play.
Whether it’s digging in the mud, creating obstacle courses, caring for plants, or simply spending time outside with friends, outdoor play is valued as an important part of learning and wellbeing.

Our Creativity & Exploration
Creativity is encouraged in many different forms throughout the centre.
Children are supported to express themselves through art, storytelling, music, imaginative play, movement, construction, and open-ended experiences that allow space for ideas and experimentation.
We value the process of creating more than the finished result. Children are encouraged to explore freely, make mistakes, try new things, and develop confidence in their own thinking and abilities.
Our Calm & Connection
Alongside active play and exploration, children also need spaces where they feel calm, secure, and connected.
At In Our Garden, relationships are at the centre of daily life. Teachers take the time to support children emotionally, help them build friendships, and create an environment where children feel safe being themselves.
Families are also kept connected to daily experiences through Storypark updates, shared learning moments, and regular communication with teachers throughout the day.
Quiet moments, shared conversations, routines, and familiar relationships all help create a sense of belonging throughout the centre.
